I've got big things in the works on a small scale. This gallery hasn't seen much updating because all of my new jewelry designs only exist in digital space. That might change by the end of August. I'll be getting my own 3D printer, which means freedom on a level that I've only been able to achieve through expensive outsourcing. It will also mean the freedom to create without confines. There is a third aspect of freedom, but I'm not quite ready to announce anything yet. It concerns www.myjewelershop.com (which has just been redesigned).

I haven't given up on drawing or photography. I just haven't been as interested in it recently. I did snap some very nice photos during a recent visit to Rhode Island and intend to post those soon. I've also been doing little sketches with pen on sticky note pad paper. I never understood when I was growing up why so many artist told me never to erase. Working with a pen feels like working without a safety net; and I love it. It was too easy for me to simply erase a pencil line that I didn't like. Soon I didn't like drawing at all and I stopped for a long while. The pen has forced me to accept mistakes and turn them into happy little accidents. I've learned to let go of any specific vision I might have had and to let the pen go all on its own to create things unexpected and fantastic. I think once I have a few good ones worth posting I'll start a blog of some sort.

Speaking of starting a blog, I've been working on a new book! I almost have enough confidence in it now to begin keeping an online journal with excerpts, thoughts, and concept art. I'll have more specifics soon, but for now all I can say is that its a high fantasy adventure targeted at the same age group of young adults as my last work, Signs of the Unknown . I've grown much as a writer since that novella, and this story is something important that I look forward to telling you more about.
I have just substantially dropped the prices of my video game jewelry! New tools, techniques, and experience allows me to offer them for less.
Lucky you. Get a bonus!

Now on Twitter

There has been a lack of updates to my deviantart site here because of the new business, but expect new work soon.
In this week leading up to Halloween I am offering my novella Signs of the Unknown as a free download! It is available as a .pdf complete with color pictures.

There have been a lot of updates to Sketchy-Stories.com. With the completion of the Link Pendant, my jewelry page now has a category specifically for video game themed pieces.
A new section has been added to the animation page called Nature Animated which features motion photography set to music of my own composition.

Thanks for looking, and have a happy Halloween!
So no update since Megacon. I wish there was a good excuse for that but I consider posting my works as being update enough. Although there haven't been too many of those recently either. Well, Summer is over now and I'm grateful for that. During its course I've been working on many projects, some of which have only now reached completion but I still can't show them off because it's an extra secret.
Instead I've made a cool new ring that I'll be posting this week.

What have you been up to?
I have a table at MegaCon this year! You can find me on Artist Alley, Burgundy table 5B where I will be promoting
Signs of the Unknown: The Soul Thief, as well as displaying my jewelry and digital art/photography.

My good friends at ~invademyprivacy will also have a table, so if you plan on attending the convention be sure to check out Artist Alley. Break your digital shackles and meet us in person!

2009 could be considered nothing less than successful. Much was learned and accomplished and much more is to be seen this new year. The holiday season kept me very occupied with sales of my jewelry, and now I intend to focus on creating more works in precious metal; some keeping with an 8-bit theme, others inspired by my surreal images, and still others that will serve as stepping stones to greater career opportunities.

Thanks to all for your help and support.
I think I am finally beginning to define my style as an artist. Or perhaps I should say I've discovered certain niches that truly appeal to me. It started slowly as a scattering of similar themes across too many works with different souls behind them. There was little structure to my growth and many pieces lacked relation to a single idea. Now I have a clear image of what I want my art to portray, and the feelings I want to invoke.

I can't wait to show you.

I just went through all my prints and dropped the prices substantially. Check them out!

I am pleased to announce that Signs of the Unknown: The Soul Thief is now available for purchase!
It has been an exciting few months getting the book ready for print and to hold the proof copy in my hands was worth every effort. Excerpts from the book as well as images are currently being made available here, and can also be viewed at www.sketchy-stories.com/books.htm

I have recently returned from another visit north. It was good to be back in the old home town during the winter and I am greatly thankful for the snowfall we had. It gave me the chance to try out my ever growing skills with photography in a new environment. Many fond locations from my youth were revisited but still more are now perhaps forever hidden from me. Old trails have long since faded into their surroundings while other paths are barred by simple signs to dissuade trespassers.
It was so much easier as a child when such warnings were absent, as friends and I went tromping through neighbors’ yards to explore in woods beyond. Suspicious glares are uncommon to children who mean no harm. Now however as I simply walk along the street side of the familiar town in which I grew up, I get the feeling that I am unwelcome.
The art of photography has grown on me, especially with my most recent trip back to New England. Of particular interest are panoramic shots, where multiple images are taken of the surroundings and then 'stitched' together. I've only completed one so far, but I'm hoping that the others I have taken come out just as good and will eventually be seen on this page.
I hope everyone had fun during the holiday season and I wish you all a happy new year!
Now that things are back to normal I'll hopefully be updating more regularly once again. It has been far too long since I've last posted any of my work and I have many ideas I need to start on.
Xfire's WoW movie contest ended a few weeks ago and my film Emerald Reflection took 4th place! Thanks to all who voted!
Voting for Xfire's WoW Summer movie contest has begun. My submission, Emerald Reflection can be voted for HERE.
Presuming you want to vote for me. There are other nice videos out there too I guess.

I created my newest piece 'Oathbreaker' in order to draw more attention to my work. Kingdom Hearts fan art seems rather popular here, and even though it has only been a day since posting the image, I already know it is going to become lost amongst the thousands of other pieces that are posted on a daily basis.
Being an artist can be rough. Whether you write, paint, or sculpt it's hard to become recognized. The only thing I can suggest to my self and others who would call themselves artist is to keep getting your work out there on a regular basis. Eventually people are going to take notice.
Another factor is to create art that most everyone can appreciate. It's more then just making something that's nice to look at. You need to make something that invokes powerful emotion. Something that makes your audience see the image with more then just their eyes. That is what I need to work on.
I am happy to announce that prints of my newest piece 'The Road to New Atlantis' are now available! More information can be found at the following address:

If there are any previous or future works of mine that you would like to see as a print, please don't hesitate to ask!

I constantly find myself revisiting classic consoles such as the NES and Sega Master System. There is some quality hidden in those machines that one could only describe as being 'addictive'. I still consider myself an avid gamer of today's titles, but it is rare for any of them to keep my interest in the way those bulky plastic cartridges would in all their 8-bit glory.
I wonder if this addiction is there only because of my childhood memories attached to those classic days of gaming, or if it is because something has been forgotten in the art of game design today.

I started out posting most of my work on MySpace, but have decided to sign up here with DeviantArt since it is specifically aimed at helping artists display their work.
I'll be transferring most of my work over from MySpace and plan to continue updating both pages.
